Grant Giving

Scissors Society Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit barber academy committed to advancing workforce development, youth education, and community reintegration. We welcome partnerships with foundations and philanthropic organizations that share our vision of transforming lives through skill-building, mentorship, and service. Your grant support helps us expand access to licensed training programs and sustain community outreach that uplifts Hartford and beyond.

Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, Scissors Society Inc. brings together barbers, stylists, and volunteers for our signature event,

No Hair Left Behind — providing free haircuts and care to hundreds of Hartford residents in need. What began as one barber offering free cuts for the guest at South Park Inn has grown into a citywide movement of compassion and community service.

We’re always looking for licensed barbers, barbering students, and volunteers who want to lend their hands and hearts to this mission. Whether you help cut hair, greet guests, or serve meals, your time and talent make a real difference.
