No Hair LEft BEhind.

Since 2022, our annual No Hair Left Behind initiative has provided hundreds of free haircuts and resources to Hartford residents in need.

This annual event began right next door to our shop at the South Park Inn.
What started as a small act of kindness — a friendly neighbor offering free haircuts to those experiencing homelessness — has grown into one of Hartford’s most powerful community gatherings.

Each year, No Hair Left Behind brings together barbers, stylists, volunteers, and sponsors to serve hundreds of residents with free grooming and wraparound services ranging from medical care to legal assistance.

By meeting the unhoused where they are, we help them reclaim their lives with dignity and renewed confidence, proving that compassion and connection can truly transform a community.

2022- The BEGINNING

First Annual No Hair left behind.

Inspired by the needs of the community, founder Miguel DelValle launched the first No Hair Left Behind event.

Hosted in collaboration with local faith-based organizations and community health providers, the event brought together barbers and volunteers united by one mission — to serve those who are often overlooked.

Dozens of free haircuts, self-care services, and essential support were offered to unhoused individuals and families in need, laying the foundation for what would become one of Hartford’s most meaningful annual community outreach events.

2023- Building Momentum

Second annual No Hair left behind.

The second annual No Hair Left Behind event was hosted at a local church , allowing us to expand and serve even more residents.

Over 100 individuals received free grooming services, meals, and access to local service providers offering resources such as healthcare, housing assistance, and employment support.

Local barbers and stylists joined forces to amplify the mission, continuing to build trust, connection, and hope within the community — one haircut at a time.

2025 — Raising the Bar, Together

Fourth annual No Hair left behind.

Our Biggest Year Yet

The Fourth annual No Hair Left Behind continued to grow in scale and purpose, deepening our connection with the Hartford community.

What began as a small act of kindness has become a trusted network of local barbers, businesses, and volunteers working side by side to restore dignity through service. This year’s event focused on building stronger partnerships — connecting residents not just to haircuts, but to healthcare providers, legal advocates, housing programs, and employment opportunities.

Each chair, each haircut, and each conversation reaffirmed our mission: when the community shows up for one another, lives change.

2026 — 5th Anniversary: Expanding the Mission

The upcoming Fifth Annual No Hair Left Behind will mark a powerful milestone — five years of service, compassion, and community transformation. What began with one barber offering free haircuts to the guests of South Park Inn, a neighboring organization providing shelter and support to individuals on their journey toward stability, has grown into a movement that unites Hartford through care, dignity, and connection.

As we prepare for this milestone year, Scissors Society Inc. remains steadfast in its mission to strengthen Hartford through education, workforce development, and community service. This event represents the heart of that mission — using the art of barbering to restore confidence, build opportunity, and inspire change.

In 2026, our goal is to expand the mission and secure the support needed to sustain and scale our outreach. With help from donors, sponsors, and community partners, we aim to:

  • Serve more than 500 Hartford residents through free grooming and access to vital wraparound services.

  • Advance state approval for our nonprofit barbering program, creating pathways for existing barbers to obtain licensure through state-recognized education and certification.

  • Develop mobile outreach initiatives to reach shelters, youth centers, and underserved neighborhoods across Connecticut.

  • Strengthen the nonprofit’s foundation to continue building pathways for education, employment, and empowerment.

Every contribution — whether through volunteering, partnership, or financial support — helps ensure that this movement continues to thrive. Together, we can make the fifth anniversary not just a celebration, but a launchpad for an even stronger Hartford.
