Who We Are

Scissors Society Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Hartford, Connecticut. Founded by Miguel Delvalle, we’re dedicated to uplifting our community through education, mentorship, and workforce development in the barbering industry.

Our Vision

To open the Scissors Society Barber Academy, a fully approved, nonprofit barber training program that provides quality education and professional licensing opportunities to those seeking a second chance, a new career, or a stronger foundation.

Why It Matters

Many talented barbers are working without licenses or access to affordable education. We’re working to change that — creating a space where skill meets purpose and every student is supported through scholarships and community sponsorships

Statement of Faith

Scissors Society Inc. believes every person is created with dignity, value, and purpose.

Our work is rooted in faith, compassion, service, and the belief that loving our neighbors means meeting them where they are with grace, respect, and practical support.

We seek to reflect the love of Christ through acts of service, authentic relationships, and opportunities for healing, hope, and restoration. Our commitment to serving others is inspired by biblical principles of compassion, humility, integrity, stewardship, and love.

We believe faith is demonstrated not only through words, but through how we serve others. Through barbering, mentorship, workforce development, and community outreach, we strive to restore dignity, strengthen individuals and families, and connect people with opportunities and resources that help them move forward.

Our doors are open to all. We serve individuals and families regardless of faith or background, meeting people where they are and treating every person with dignity and respect.
